Baseball Freebie and My Favorite Math Pins!

I've been neglecting blogging/reading/creating lately because I've been busy with summer school...and this guy!
This is Desmond, my new rescue greyhound! He ran 25 races down in Alabama and now he's retiring in style on my couch. I just love him - he is the sweetest, calmest dog ever. The kitties still don't quite know what to make of him, but they're slowly coming around!

Our summer school "unit"/theme is all about baseball - I love me some baseball! I just uploaded a baseball-themed freebie, working on one- and two-syllable words. More baseball products to come!

Next, I'm joining up again with Ashley at Just Reed for her Ten Pin Linky Party! This week's topic is math. So here are my top ten math pins, in no particular order (there's quite a range of skill levels in these pins because my kids are all over the place with their math skills):

Such fun ideas for fraction learning! Love that she gives the book recommendation, too.

Such a simple yet concrete way to practice size comparisons! This would be great for my kids.

Wouldn't this be such a fun way to practice addition?!

I pinned this ages ago and it's definitely on my game-to-create list for this summer.

An activity like this would be perfect for my lower kiddos still working on one-to-one correspondence, counting and numeral recognition.

Also something on my to-do list this summer. Good addition to our morning circle.

Cool idea to make coin stampers.

Most of my students do not have the motor skills to write, but poems like these would definitely help with numeral recognition.

I love Unifix cubes! Good way to use flash cards in a non-flash-cardy way :)

Is it bad form to post a pin from my own blog? I had to include it, though, because it has been one of my lower students' favorite activities I created for math boxes this past year.

And finally, I'm looking forward to the Michigan Blogger Meetup tomorrow!! Thank you to Christina for organizing it, and to Amy for giving me the heads up since I haven't been keeping up with my blog reading recently! Can't wait to see all of you tomorrow!

School's out for summer! and my Pinterest addiction...

Schooooool's out for summer! (Not really, Alice Cooper - I had two days off and then started summer school already - but it still feels like a break! My summer school schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - four day weekends! Love it!)

I love this linky party hosted by Ashley of Just Reed - 10 favorite Pinterest pins! This week's linky is all about classroom decor! My top ten are (in no particular order):

These clocks are on my to-do list for this summer! I love the visual of when we have a 'special,' etc. on any given day. We have a foam clock from the Dollar Tree already which we set for occasional reminders, but I'd love to do this on a regular basis.

What a meaningful, welcoming touch! I can see this on the classroom door...

Framing those must-post procedures, maps, etc. makes a huge difference for such a small change.

Cute way to display birthdays! Since I only have 9 students, I may have them hold their entire birthday instead of breaking it up by month. They'll love it.

I love this way to assign seats at small group tables.

Great idea for affixing name plates to desks - no more tape/contact paper. I just wonder if my students would be too tempted to play with them/pull them off. I'm going to give it a try, though!

This was such a huge discussion after our more stringent lockdown drill rules following the Sandy Hook tragedy - the time it takes to lock the classroom door/the necessity of being out in the hallway to lock the door. This is a cute, practical way to keep the door locked at all times but still able to open easily unless the lock is needed.

I love the idea of displaying the kids' framed family photos in the classroom.

I'm going to do a Hollywood classroom theme for next school year - this would be a fun bulletin board for the beginning of the year!

Curtains in the classroom? Yes, please! Great Command Hook idea.

Go link up with Ashley - I'd love to see more fabulous decor pins!

June! It's June!

I missed May's Currently. I think that was the first Currently I'd missed since I started blogging last January. I'm hopeful I'll be a better blogger/blog reader/commenter once the summer begins. To say the least, these past few months of school have been draining. I'm so ready for break (which, for me, means my summer school schedule of 3 work days per week - love it!).

Listening - My cousin introduced me to the Gilmore Girls when I was visiting her over spring break. I'd never watched when it was airing, but now I'm hooked! Thankfully one of my coworkers had the whole series box set for me to borrow so I can indulge my newfound obsession.

Loving -
Yes, I have only two more days left to the school year! This is a countdown I have in my living room...see: the draining past few months. I've never had an at-home countdown before. The Rosie the Riveter print is something I happened to have already - thought it was appropriate :)

Thinking - My student in crisis is still in crisis, so I'm worried about him and our classroom. Also, we have not yet received class lists for summer school, which is a mere 3 school days away (we start next Wednesday). I'd like to know who I'm teaching next week! And school year records are due on Friday. Whew!

Wanting - I submitted my application to adopt a retired racing greyhound last week. I was feeling really great about my decision to adopt one of these gorgeous dogs until I hit 'submit' on the online application...and started second-guessing my qualifications. I have this irrational fear that the rescue organization won't find me a suitable dog-parent! I really want one of these dogs! Fingers crossed!

Needing - Our last two school days are half days for students, so we have two half days of records. Looking forward to the time to write progress reports and get the room ready for summer school (provided I find out who I'll be teaching).

Vacay Essentials - I love to read, and ever since I got my Nook, it goes with me everywhere. Love it - so much easier to take many, many books with me on vacation! Sunscreen is also an essential - I don't tan, I burn, and ever since my mom had some pre-cancerous spots removed this year, I'm even more aware of the skin cancer threat. And while I'm happy to vacation anywhere, when it requires a passport, I'm ultra-excited. I love traveling abroad and wish I could do it more.

I'm late linking up for June's Currently, but if you haven't yet, it's here - remember the Rule of Three:
